Is your information secure?
Even though you might have hit the delete button on your keyboard and cleared out your computer's Recycle Bin, this does not mean that this file cannot be retrieved again. Unfortunately your PC does not instantly remove this data even though disk space is freed up. What happens is the shortcut to the document is removed so that the operating system cannot see it. The data will stay on the hard drive until something else is written over it and there is no way to determine how long information will be kept stored on the hard drive.
Although, YOU may not be able to locate the deleted files that still exist on your Windows Computer hard drive, somebody with the technical know-how and specialised software has the ability to potentially view your confidential data without much difficulty at all. Even reformatting a hard drive so that its data structure is destroyed cannot guarantee that data recovery software will not
track down your company's private information.
When handing over your obsolete hard drives to a third party organisation such as a recycling facility, do you know exactly how safe your data is?
Data security is of vital importance to all industries, especially to the financial, educational, retail, medical and legal industries, as personnel details, client
based information and corporate data cannot and should not be released accidentally into the public domain.
Here at S2S Data Destruction, we have been asked time and time again; what is the most secure method of deleting confidential data stored on a computer hard drive? The answer is simply to destroy the hard drive.
S2S Data Destruction destroy all types of Hard Drives including Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) hard drives, Parallel ATA (PATA) hard drives, Serial ATA (SATA) hard drives and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) hard drives. Hard drives of all sizes (including 3.5 inch standard computer hard drives and 2.5 inch standard laptop hard drives), all eras, and all materials i.e. light iron and aluminium can be shredded down to 2mm at our site or 6mm at your own site (Impact Level 6 MOD standards) rendering all information stored on them completely unreadable. Software data erasure using CESG approved software, asset tracking, witness destruction, and degaussing options are also available.
Witness shredding and Asset Tracking are additional services that we can offer our customers if required, and hard drives can also be wiped clean with Blancco Software (or Software suggested by the customer) prior to shredding again if required.
S2S Data Destruction advise our customers to take extra care with their CDs, DVDs and Media Tapes as these items are more likely to get thrown away or lost within the work place. Unless a CD or DVD is re-writable, the data on them cannot be overwritten. Therefore at S2S Data Destruction, these items can be shredded or degaussed at our site if requested in order to ensure confidential information does not fall into the wrong hands.
USB sticks and external hard drives are just like any other hard drive inside a PC or laptop. Therefore private information will still be on the drive until it is overwritten or destroyed. S2S Data Destruction can shred or degauss your Solid State Storage equipment if you require private data to be destroyed.
As technology becomes more and more advanced, more and more information is stored on mobile phones and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants). When you upgrade to a new phone, you should be aware that your information will be stored on the phone as well as the SIM card. S2S Data Destruction can granulate / shred the hardware, or degauss or data erase the software for mobile phones, PDAs or smart phones ie Blackberries, Iphones and Ipads using the 'Mobile Edition' software from Blancco'. We can also destroy encrypted phones that are on the Tetra network for the Emergency services.
